I have a question for you all
Think it in your mind
What is your favorite animal?
Madam President, fellow toastmasters
My favorite animal is cute little birds.
Did you know that your admiration of one animal over another speaks volumes about your personality and character traits?
When I knew that, I though yeey, I’m cute, not until my friend shared in a comment “I hate little tiny birds, they are so week, makes me sick” I still love them though
Presenting myself as a bird, just didn’t feel enough, so I zoomed out and I looked at the bigger picture, I saw the tree I stand on, and I remembered I am so fond of the skeleton of naked tree before blooming flowers in spring, I’m dazzled by the skeleton, so elegant, to me, strong, reaching out to the sky. This is me
Looking down, I saw my routes
Three main routes, I was dazzled, the first main route, presented nurture from all the People I knew, Friends, family, and more. The second route, it was my faith, my inner strength, connection to God, and the third route, is knowledge, every kind, books, mentors, experience, everything
Then looked up to all the branches and I saw 4 main branches that translates me. The first branch is who I am, my name is Souad, I come from Lebanon, I have Iraqi, Syrian, Palestinian, and Armenian routes. It affects my language, trust me, but it comes handy at work. My favorite color is yellow, but I don’t wear it. I love swimming, singing, but my bother don’t like my singing. I like reading, writing, and watching interesting good movies, not any
I thrive on innovation and development
The second branch in my tree is about creativity, It’s a tiny list of the things that many people thought I was good at, Such as, planning, analysis, problem solving, cost cutting, creative ideas, and the most that I get feedback about: motivational speaking
The third main branch is my life goals,
They are two: influence people to feel good, and, enjoy life while learning
The fourth branch is the most important to me now, my legacy. It’s my vision of our future, and I’ve been working on it for some time. I think it’s our responsibility to share everything that we learned and we got so good at with others, so that they would benefit from, just like others did before and we benefited from
A voice inside keep saying: The world deserves this gift, be generous
I felt really good about visualizing myself in a tree. I had a better look at me, and it sounded like a mind map, very very helpful. Couldn’t help myself but to do what I always do, run to my friends and share. So I asked them this
How do you see yourself in a big picture? and I gave them my tree as an example
I was thrilled; they felt good even before giving the answer. They were commenting, and I’ll share one comment, and I quote
“That is a very attractive question, give me some time, I need to look deep inside of me and know what I associate myself with”
I laughed, waiting for her answer to come later
“I imagine myself a big beautiful house on a long road. There are no houses but me... I welcome everyone who nocks my door; I give shelter, food, comfort and my heart. I do it as genuinely as I am. I want every visitor to have good time during their stay. In return I get energy, because as they say empty house is worse than being homeless. I enjoy every visit, and every visitor gives me a different energy and vibe. They make me feel bright and alive ❤"
I never thought, preparing for my speech could lead me to something so nice as this, and I would like to invite you all to try it, and I hope you benefit from it to feel good, Just like I did and my friend did too
